Animals in facilities, including welfare centres

Facilities that keep and move animals of special concern will need to apply for a licence.

Applicants will need to have their premises inspected by a vet and submit the inspection report along with their licence application.

Animals must be:

  • cared for and their welfare needs met
  • not be allowed to breed and
  • be securely contained.
  • microchipped or marked using methods that do not cause avoidable pain, distress or suffering.

Facilities will also need to complete a method statement.
