Change a species licence: what you need before you start

The information and documents you need depends on the changes you want to make.


Add licensed accredited agents or licensed authorised persons

Provide the full name and contact details of each person you want to add.


Remove licensed accredited agents or licensed authorised persons

Provide the name of each person you want to remove from the licence.

Change contact details

Provide:

  • the current details
  • the updated details

You can use this service to change names and postal addresses.

Do not use this service to only change phone numbers or email addresses.

To update a phone number or email address, contact the species permitting team.

Change the lead licensee

Provide the name, address and contact details of the new lead licensee.

Change the licensed nominated ecologist

If the new ecologist has been named as a licensed nominated ecologist on a protected species licence in Wales, Scotland or England for the same species and activities, provide the licence details.

If the ecologist has not previously been named as a licensed nominated ecologist on a licence, upload 2 references.

Change the timetable or licence period

Explain:

  • the reason for the change
  • which licensable activities are still outstanding

If you have a method statement, you must upload the latest version of the timetable. It must clearly show all revised dates.


Add or increase species

Tell us:

  • which species you want to add or increase
  • how many specimens need to be covered by the licence
  • what you intend to do
  • why you need to add the species

If you have a method statement, you must upload the latest version. It must clearly show all changes.

Add techniques and equipment

Tell us:

  • which techniques and equipment you want to add
  • why they are needed

If you have a method statement, you must upload the latest version. It must clearly show all changes.

You must provide evidence that the person using the new techniques or equipment has the appropriate skills and experience.

Provide one of the following:

  • details of a relevant licence held in Wales, Scotland or England
  • references and a logbook showing experience with the species and techniques
  • training certificates and endorsement from a bat trainer
