Monitor the work carried out under your forest management plan
Monitoring work carried out under your forest management plan will help ensure your:
- management objectives are being delivered
- expected outcomes and measures of success are being achieved
- management is adaptive to any changing circumstances
It may also be required by conditions attached to your forest management plan, for example linked to protected sites, scheduled monuments or deep peat restoration.
Monitoring should be part of normal day to day management activity, rather than something that takes too much additional time and effort.
Regular monitoring will also make it easier to complete a year 5 forest management plan review if you want to extend your forest management for another 5 years.
Monitoring work should include recording any incidents that have resulted in an actual or potential breach of the UK Forestry Standard. You may be required to give us details of this, depending on its severity.
