Opportunity Knocks: Ceinws Forestry Camp Open for Long-Term Lease

Natural Resources Wales (NRW) is inviting developers to submit innovative proposals for a long-term lease of the historic Ceinws Forestry Camp in Powys. This unique site offers a prime opportunity to create projects that enhance the local environment, economy and community provision.

The camp’s unique location and rich history make it an ideal candidate for redevelopment. Offering a long-term lease, the site provides developers with a blank canvas to bring their vision to life.

Sarah Jennings, Executive Director of Communications, Customer and Commercial for NRW shared her excitement: “This project represents a significant step in the redevelopment of the former forestry camp. Beyond rental income, successful proposals must demonstrate clear benefits for the local community, environment, and economy.”
“The site is ripe for redevelopment and is an ideal space for the right idea to flourish.
“This initiative highlights NRW’s commitment to sustainable development of its legacy assets with the aim to benefit the local community and environment while fostering economic prosperity.”

The marketing strategy is guided by the Three Ps—Planet, People, and Prosperity—as outlined in NRW’s Commercial Strategy and proposals for the site lease are being accepted for the next four months. During this period, NRW will assess each submission based on adherence to the Three Ps criteria.

An advisory panel, including representatives from the Ceinws Hwb – a community group based at the site - will be consulted to ensure community interests are represented in the final decision-making process.

NRW requires that the site continues to support current community activities, including the play area, as a condition of any lease agreement.
