The role

We are seeking an inspiring and dynamic Team Leader to oversee and coordinate evidence programmes within the remit of our Business Board. In this role, you will provide strategic leadership, ensuring that evidence initiatives align with organisational goals and deliver meaningful impact. This is a unique opportunity to shape high-profile programmes, drive innovation, and influence decision-making at the heart of our organisation.

As an organisation we support flexible working.  You will be contracted to the nearest NRW office to your home and a suitable hybrid working pattern will be agreed on appointment. Any regular face to face meetings or training will be planned in advance.

What you will do

  • Be responsible for the identification, planning and delivery of all of NRW’s evidence projects through managing the overall portfolio of the embedded Evidence Project Managers and their activities through a matrix management approach.
  • Manage and develop a team of Technical Specialists, Senior Specialists and Advisors, each of whom will be the lead for NRW within their discipline, working closely with other Senior and Lead Advisors in the Integrated Evidence Group.
  • Lead your team, ensuring the delivery of work plans and be fully accountable for staff development, performance and well-being, as well as ensuring compliance with all NRW policies and procedures.
  • Be responsible for the evidence planning and prioritisation and recording processes which inform the Evidence Business Board.
  • Provide the lead to the Evidence Programme Managers to coordinate evidence activities ensuring evidence board processes are adhered to including evidence development, commissioning, delivery, quality assurance, communication and publication.
  • Lead the strategic coordination of external evidence linkages, external partnerships and collaborations undertaken by the embedded Evidence Programme managers and ensure linkages across other Specialists in the Integrated Evidence Group.
  • Be responsible for oversight of evidence programme issues ensuring clear communication within NRW and with external partners.
  • Manage linkages with other specialists in the integrated evidence group, especially the interdisciplinary specialists, to ensure that all NRW’s evidence conforms to SMNR principles.
  • Undertake health and safety duties and responsibilities appropriate to the post

Your qualifications, experience, knowledge and skills

In your application and interview you will be asked to demonstrate the following skills and experience using the STAR method.

  1. Significant experience of managing cross-disciplinary evidence requirements and processes as part of being a recognised expert in your area of evidence.
  2. Substantial experience of managing people, programmes and portfolios, as well as experience of coordinating other specialist staff.
  3. You will have a relevant degree and recognised professional/technical qualification.

Welsh language level requirements

  • Essential:  Level A1 - Entry level (able to use and understand simple, basic phrases and greetings, no conversational Welsh)
