Exceptions to the salmon open seasons and methods guidance

 

The only exceptions to the salmon open seasons and methods guidance are for the river Severn or its tributaries in Wales, where emergency bylaws are in place.

Catch and release restrictions

On all rivers, all salmon must be returned with minimum injury and with minimum delay.

On all rivers, streams, drains and canals, you must immediately return to the water any salmon hooked other than in the mouth.

Ban on sale of rod caught salmon

It is an offence to sell, barter or exchange for goods or services rod-caught salmon.
