Student work experience: Forest Estate

This is a student work experience opportunity which is offered to help the student(s) to gain skills, knowledge and experience.

It allows the hosting team to share their knowledge and gain experience in working with young people whilst promoting NRW and the wider environmental sector.

This placement will be delivered through the medium of Welsh and English depending on the host for the day.

 

Additional Information

What will you do?

You will be shadowing / working with NRW staff that manage the Welsh Government Woodland Estate.

Who will you be working with?

You will be hosted by NRW staff from different teams, who will share their knowledge and expertise in fields such as forestry, land management, recreation and visitor centre management, civil engineering, wildlife management, policy, and conservation.

Where will you be working?

You will meet each day at the NRW Dolgellau office, where you will be briefed by your placement manager before being paired off with an NRW team member for the morning session, and then another NRW member in the afternoon. The week will involve travel and site visits to Coed y Brenin visitor centre and surrounding forests in the area, along with sessions at the Dolgellau office.

What other information is relevant to the placement?

You will be able to take refreshment and toilet breaks on a regular basis throughout the working day.

If your application is successful, you will be required to complete a Placement Agreement which sets out the responsibilities and expectations for the placement.
