Consultations on Regulation 61 (1) Notice responses under the Industrial Emissions Directive

In the past, the techniques and expected limits have been included in Best Available Technique Reference Documents (BRef) as guidance for both regulators and operators. IED has now introduced the Best Available Techniques (BAT) conclusion document which will make adherence to the BRef a legal requirement and marks a significant change in the way iron and steel production is regulated across Europe

We are required to review all Environmental Permitting Regulations permits following publication of sector specific Best Available Techniques conclusions.

The Industrial Emissions Directive comes into force on 7 January 2014 for existing installations.
