We have received a variation application from DL Rogers & Sons.

Application type is a Substantial variation to an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016

Regulated facility type: Section 6.9: Intensive Farming - Part A (1)(a) Rearing poultry or pigs intensively in an installation with more than (i) 40,000 places for poultry.
Regulated facility location: Upper Heath Poultry Unit, Upper Heath Farm, Presteigne, Powys, LD8 2HG.

The site currently houses 80,000 broiler birds in two poultry sheds. The variation application is to increase the number of broiler chickens to 90,000 and to too one biomass boiler for site heating.

The application contains a description of how the proposed changes may affect the installation; the materials, substances and energy it will use and generate; the conditions of its site; the source, nature and quantity of its foreseeable emissions and their potential impact, the proposed techniques for preventing, reducing, and monitoring its emissions and preventing and recovering waste; and an outline of the main alternatives, if any, considered.
