Submit your water abstraction return

Coronavirus update

We will delay requesting water abstraction returns for the period 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2020 until further notice.

We will contact licence holders directly in spring 2021 to request returns for both the periods April 2019 - March 2020 and April 2020 - March 2021.

You should keep recording data as detailed in your licence if it is safe to do so, following the latest social distancing guidance from the government.

If you have already sent your returns to us there will be a delay with us processing this data.

If you have problems preparing your return, contact us on 0300 065 3000 (Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm) or email waterresources.returns@naturalresourceswales.gov.uk.

So that we can help you quickly, have your licence number ready.

Deadline for returns

Submit your return within 28 days of receiving a notification from us.

Submitting the return by the deadline will ensure your licence conditions aren't breached.

Changing your personal details

If you no longer need the licence you should revoke it so that you're no longer liable to pay an annual charge or submit a return.

To make other changes to your licence, read applying to change an existing abstraction or impoundment licence.

How we use return data

We need to know how much water you have abstracted to help us look after the environment and manage the water resource that you rely on.
