Advice for developers and marine planners
If you are planning on carrying out work in a European Marine Site you must follow the advice set out in our Regulation 35 documents.
The purpose of European Marine Sites is to conserve the internationally important marine habitats and species that occur within them.
Under Regulation 35 of the Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2010, we have a responsibility to advise on what activities may cause damage or disturbance to the special features.
For marine sites partly in England, we carry out this duty jointly with Natural England.

Our knowledge and understanding of wildlife is continually improving. We will be working with Welsh government to review and update our Regulation 35 advice.
