The role

The Facilities Assistant is a crucial member of the team, supporting the efficient delivery of facilities services that enable the smooth running of Natural Resources Wales (NRW) operations. This role is primarily based in the Welsh Government Office at Cathays Park 2, providing on-site support for NRW staff.

The Facilities Assistant ensures effective coordination with the Welsh Government Facilities team and external contractors, managing a range of day-to-day tasks including access to meeting rooms, pool cars, office supplies, and handling post and deliveries. By maintaining excellent communication and resolving facilities-related issues, this role ensures a seamless and productive work environment for NRW colleagues within the shared office space.

Additionally, the Facilities Assistant contributes to maintaining health and safety standards within the office and ensures that all facilities and equipment are in good working order, supporting the smooth operation of NRW’s business activities.

As an organisation we support flexible working. You will be contracted to the nearest NRW office to your home and a suitable hybrid working pattern will be agreed on appointment. Any regular face to face meetings or training will be planned in advance.

Your qualifications, experience, knowledge and skills

In your application and interview you will be asked to demonstrate the following skills and experience using the STAR method.

1.     Good organisational skills.
2.     Good written and verbal skills and the ability to communicate confidently, with excellent customer service skills.
3.     Good inter-personal skills with the ability to work under pressure using your own. initiative in order to meet tight deadlines.
4.     Good IT and accurate data entry skills.
5.     Experience of managing small scale building repair and maintenance works as well as managing contractors.
6.     Level 3 qualification in Facilities Management or similar – desirable
7.     Excellent knowledge of Health and Safety management relating to the Health and Safety at work act.
8.     Experience of delivering both hard and soft Facilities services within a built environment to include:
9.     Good understanding of using a Finance system and other software/applications to meet the requirements of your area of responsibility.

 

Welsh language level requirements

  • Essential: A1 - Entry level (able to use and understand simple, basic phrases and greetings, no conversational Welsh) previous Level 1 
  • Desirable: B2 - Upper intermediate level (able to discuss work matters) previous Level 3
