Job Context
Help contribute to the delivery of NRW’s marine monitoring programme through the application of your marine ecological knowledge and your monitoring and analytical skills.
Forming part of the Marine Monitoring, Assessment & Reporting Team (MMART) in NRW’s new Marine Service, you will provide support to all aspects of our field and desk-based operations.
Specifically, you will:
- Support field operations on the shore or at sea, gathering information on the state of our marine environment,
- Support the management of our monitoring data through the use of data management systems, helping to deliver analyses, reporting, and the interpretation of marine data,
- Help maintain the equipment and documentation that supports our operations.
- Support our investigations into the reasons for failures of environmental standards,
- Provide, as required, technical and field support for other work areas within the marine monitoring programme.
As a component of MMART, and depending on your field skills and experience, you may be expected to provide technical and field support for work areas within the marine monitoring programme, such as diving, drop down video, sidescan sonar, sediment and water quality sampling, intertidal monitoring and marine mammal surveys.
In order to deliver your work programme you will need to develop and maintain effective working relationships with other staff who can provide specialist advice in support of your work.
Other information relevant to the job:
The post is largely office based but, depending on your skills and experience, some outdoor working with unsociable hours should be expected. As the post covers the whole of Welsh inshore waters it may involve significant travel.
