We’ve received a response to a Regulation 60(1) Notice of request for more information from Tata Steel UK Limited.
Permit number: EPR/BL7108IM
Regulated facility type: Integrated Iron and Steel Works
Regulated facility location: Port Talbot Steelworks, Port Talbot, SA13 2NG
Under the Industrial Emissions Directive (IED) we are required to review Environmental Permitting Regulations (EPR) permits and apply conditions in the permit which implement all relevant BAT (Best Available Techniques) conclusions as described in the Commission Implementing Decision.
The steel making BAT conclusions were published on 8 March 2012 in the Official Journal of the European Union following an European Union wide review of BAT.
Our review will cover operational activities at the installation which relate to the production of steel and all associated activities which have a direct technical connection.
The Operator is required to demonstrate that the Installation meets the revised BAT standards, including the BAT conclusions and any sub-elements that are contained within each conclusion. Where BAT Associated Emission Levels (AELs) are specified, the Operator will need to demonstrate that the Installation can meet these AELs or provide sufficient technical and commercial information that allows the determination of a derogation under IED (Article 15(4)).
