Tabbs Gout Flood Risk Management Scheme

Announcement of intention not to prepare an environmental statement An environmental statement (Regulation 5 of the Environmental Impact Assessment (Land Drainage Improvement Works) Regulations 1999 as amended by SI 2005/1399 and SI 2006/618

What we're doing?

Natural Resources Wales gives notice that it proposes to carry out improvement works to the flood defences on the Severn Estuary in Peterstone Wentlooge between NGR ST249787 and ST254791, a distance of approximately 0.7 kilometres.

The proposed improvement works will involve the raising of the 0.7km section of existing earth embankment to a height of 9.41m AOD to enhance coastal flood protection.

Environmental impact

Natural Resources Wales considers that the improvement works are not likely to have significant effects on the environment and does not intend to prepare an environmental statement in respect of them.

An Environmental Scoping Report, Preliminary Ecological Appraisal and Habitats Regulations Assessment Screening have been produced, which detail the potential environmental effects from the scheme and the outline measures to address them.

An Environmental Report is currently being produced to assess these effects in detail and provide the detailed mitigation required for any potential environmental effects. These documents can be obtained by writing to:
