Portland Grounds Sea Defence Improvements

Announcement of Publication of an Environmental Statement (Regulation 10 of the Environmental Impact Assessment (Land Drainage Improvement Works) Regulations 1999 as amended by SI 2005/1399 and SI 2006/618)

What we're doing

Natural Resources Wales gives notice that an environmental statement has been prepared in respect of proposed improvement works to the flood defence on the Severn Estuary near Magor and Undy, between NGR ST438848 and NGR ST 453858, a distance of approximately 2 kilometres. The proposed improvement works will involve the raising of the existing earth embankment to a height of 9.56m AOD to enhance coastal flood protection.

Environmental impact

Natural Resources Wales has prepared an environmental statement in respect of the potential environmental effects of the improvement works.

Any person wishing to make representations in relation to the likely environmental effects of the proposed improvement works should do so, in writing, to the address specified below, within 28 days of publication of this notice.

If no representations are received in respect of the environmental effects of the proposal within this time period, then the proposal will proceed to be implemented. It is anticipated that works will commence in Spring 2015.
